A TROUBLED ROAD by Hank Koopman
This memoir begins in Holland a year after WWII
and tells how religious doctrines can affect a child's future.
Nakedness was considered a sin by his family and church, but a nudist
family living nearby made him question that reasoning.
Political
and sociological differences within the family forced them to emigrate
to Australia in 1954. A strong case of dèjá-vue materialised, with
reincarnation being the only answer. Further family conflict arose, and
at fourteen, he summoned enough courage to run away from home to chart
his own destiny.
Two years of hitch-hiking across Australia and
surviving several near-death experiences marked the transformative
nature of his journey, as he emerged from a troubled road, a changed
person.
